That’s the Wrap: OBI’s Take September 2026

07 October 2026

Lots going on, as ever. Here’s September’s monthly wrap:

Business of the month:

Montirex surged to a 79% increase in turnover to around £130m and are targeting more European expansion. Like Castore, they seem to have found what works. New names, keeping the strong tradition of North West sports brands at the forefront.

One to watch:

Allied London led the way in making St John’s a destination of choice in Manchester, and Select Property Group’s new plans for One St John’s, a 31-story riverside tower, will add a statement building at the New Quay Street gateway.

One for the future:

Manchester Piccadilly has seen a lot of work, but it’s hugely encouraging to see how seriously Manchester’s top team are moving the dial again, searching for a team to refresh a masterplan that will dovetail with the leap forward that Northern Powerhouse Rail should provide in connectivity.

Eyecatcher:

We’re really excited to present restored space at Calico on Mosley Street, a true blend of modern workspace in a heritage setting, with a communal roof terrace and lounge. A stunning job.

What we’ve achieved:
OBI hosted an exclusive dinner to raise funds for We Love MCR Charity and The Christie Charity. We successfully raised over £50,000. Thank you to all who attended.

What we’ve liked this month:

Great to have James Board rejoin the team at OBI, adding strength to our transactions and asset management team. Also good to see CyanLines funding confirmed in the Good Growth Fund allocations. And next door to Calico, the Portico Library secured Lottery funding to expand into the whole of their incredible building. It’s all happening on Mosley Street!
